#GivingTuesday is Over – Now What?

We’re 2 weeks past 2015’s Giving Tuesday and we can safely safe the day was a huge success. The community-driven day saw a 52% increase in giving compared to data from 2014. We saw extremely creative campaigns used by organizations like Global Giving.

Global Giving put together a campaign where users tweeting with the hashtag #IGiveBecause were given a $20 gift card to donate to the charity of his or her choice.

This year was the year we saw the power of the matching donation. The NonProfit Times put together an article about organizations like The Michael J. Fox Foundation and Transportation Alternatives who utilized the promise of matching donations to encourage followers to make a donation.

For the immediate day following the event, Beth Kanter put together an article with some numbers and suggestions for how your organization can take part in #ThankYouWednesday. The article discusses the importance of thanking donors and not treating them like an “ATM transaction.”

But here we are. 2 weeks following Giving Tuesday. The holidays are approaching and there’s still plenty of opportunity to raise funds without the fear of donor fatigue.
